Technology helps
Many new cars have a setting for young and inexperienced drivers. This allows you to set the power and maximum speed and lock the settings. This is useful for concerned parents as well as young drivers who are more likely to be tempted to take risks in traffic, but do not yet have the experience to understand the consequences.

Good example
It is important to be a good role model as a parent or guardian. Of course, it is best to always be a role model in traffic, but it could be especially important for parents to set an example during driving lessons and show a young driver that consideration and patience are the best travel companions.

Why back up in a parking space?
A large proportion of vehicle damage occurs when backing out of a parking space. When you back into a parking space, you are backing into a safe area, while if you back out of a parking space, you are backing into an unsafe area with traffic. Also, right-of-way applies in parking spaces, so you have more rights if you drive out of a parking space.
